	What is Holstein Young Breeders?
	Holstein Young Breeders is the youth movement of Holstein UK and was formed from the successful ‘YMA’ and ‘Futures organisations in 1999 during the merger between the two parent societies – the Holstein Friesian Society and the British Holstein Society. In today’s difficult agricultural climate, it is more important than ever to encourage young people into the dairy industry as they are the future of not only the Holstein breed but the industry as a whole. The HYB movement aims to help to do this by providing a wide range of activities that promote learning, provide new and exciting opportunities and allow friendships to be built.
	What is the Structure of HYB?
	Holstein Young Breeders is open to anyone aged 26 and under. There are 26 regional clubs located across the UK, all of which are looked after by a local club co-ordinator. The club co-ordinators are assisted by the National Co-ordinator, who oversees the structure of the HYB movement and the organisation of the national events programme. When a new member joins HYB they are assigned to their local club and will then be able to attend local events, practical demonstrations and competitions. By becoming a member of HYB you are able to take part in a variety of local and national events such as stock judging, showing, clipping, herd and farm visits, social events and travel abroad.
	Calendar of Events
	Weekend Rally This event takes the format of a weekend away, hosted by a different regional club each year. The club organises a wide range of events including visits to local herds, sightseeing, the National Reasoned Stock Judging Competition, evening entertainment and the popular ‘Field to Foto’ Competition, which also includes the National Clipping Competition. Each year is slightly different with the clubs adding their own new ideas and local flavour to the event. All-Breeds All-Britain Calf Show This is one of the highlights of the HYB calendar where teams of calves and showmen from each club compete for the accolade of All-Britain Champion. The event draws large crowds of spectators and is widely publicised in the national press. The All-Britain is not just for those lucky enough to be competing in the main ring. Club teams also build promotional stands to advertise their club and take part in various competitions based around their stand during the show. Fun events are also an important part of the weekend.
